Since 2014, I volunteer as President of Your Children's Trees, a 501 c)3) nonprofit urban forestry organization serving Carpinteria County (www.yourchildrenstrees.org). We have a formal link with Your Children's Trees at UCSB, a student-led urban forestry organization serving the University of California at Carpinteria campus (www.yourchildrenstreesatucsb.org), as well as educational outreach into the community. Your Children's Trees is active in north Carpinteria County tree planting and care at Waller Park and the City of Guadalupe, with the Los Prietos Boys Camp boys, and tree planting and care at Elings Park. Together we are preparing the next generation of foresters to plant and care for your children's trees. For 13 years prior to 2014, I served as Executive Director of Carpinteria Valley Beautiful where I planted and cared for over 4000 trees in public places.
Prior to my career in arboriculture, I served in local government from 1974 to 2000 in planning and administrative positions including Community Development Director and City Manager. I retired from local government in 2001 to work in the nonprofit sector and as a private consulting arborist.
